Blanc de Noirs Brut English Sparkling Wine 2015
We are proud to introduce the first-ever vintage of Rathfinny’s Blanc de Noirs – a wine that looks set to become one of this country’s true icons. Rathfinny Wine Estate is the most audacious and exciting new player on the English wine scene. The inaugural outing of their white sparkling made from only red grapes has an intriguing blush, suggestive of the wild strawberry, tangy raspberry sorbet, grapefruit zest, toasted almonds and sesame seeds, and red apples baked with Demerara sugar and drizzled with fresh cream that follow.
Through our relationship with Rathfinny, Harvey Nichols has secured a tiny allocation especially for you. However, if you want to get your hands on this fabulous sparkling wine, you’ll need to be quick as demand is sure to outstrip supply. Made with 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Pinot Meunier, this is sure to become one of their flagship wines having been aged on the lees for an impressive 36 months. Consider pairing with Thai fishcakes, fresh crab, lamb larb, canapés, your morning smoked salmon scramble, or scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam.
Rathfinny Wine Estate has around 90 hectares of vines on Sussex’s South Downs between Brighton and Eastbourne. This ambitious new venture – the first vines were planted on the chalk soils behind the Seven Sisters in 2012 – is set to be 140 hectares when at full capacity, making it one of England’s most significant vineyards. Set up by Mark and Sarah Driver – former hedge fund manager and solicitor respectively – and employing a winemaker from Champagne and a vineyard manager from New Zealand, Rathfinny will undoubtedly set the benchmark for English Sparkling Wine.
