Red Willow Vineyard Syrah 2017 - Savage Grace Wines

Savage Grace Wines

Red Willow Vineyard Syrah 2017

Red Willow Vineyard can be found in the west of Yakima Valley, acting as home to some of Washington State’s very first Syrah vines. The purity of the wine it produces in the hands of Savage Grace is nothing short of dazzling. There’s freshly squeezed cherry juice, raspberry, mulled wine spices, dried herbs, smoke and tangy pine. Think Rhône meets Beaujolais and you won’t be a million miles away; then fire up the barbeque, the grill or the oven for Sunday Roast.

Washington State’s Savage Grace Wines was established in 2011 by winemaker Michael Savage and his wife Grace Hearn but the name is far more than just a clever play on their names. It reflects the vines’ struggle to survive here in this wild northwest corner of America and the elegance that Michael manages to tease out of them. His aim is to craft wines in an Old World style with lower alcohol using sustainable farming methods. These boutique wines are super rare, with only 100-or-so cases of some of them in existence. Savage Grace also uses natural yeasts and very little sulphur, producing wines that are vegan-friendly.
