Dhavall Gandhi is the incredible whisky maker at The Lakes Distillery. Elements is his most ambitious creation yet, which is why we’re limiting it to one per customer while stocks last.
Elements is the first Whiskymaker’s Project from The Lakes Distillery, and it offers a glimpse into the mind of one of the whisky world’s most prodigious talents. Dhavall Gandhi said, “I needed to find the elemental blocks that would help me create nuances and be distinctive enough when combined to be recognised as The Lakes’ signature style.” That ‘signature style’ is a Sherry-led one, so he set about a forensic examination of what a perfect Sherry cask should be and created seven different whiskies, each dedicated to a different Sherry wine – Fino, Manzanilla, Amontillado, Palo Cortado, Cream, Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso. Each one represents a building block used by a whisky maker when crafting a new Sherry-led single malt whisky. These were then combined into the library of whisky learning before you. Only 1,368 of these collections were created, and they allow you to follow the journey of a whisky maker and maybe craft your own blend.
If you’re still dithering about whether to invest in this collection, it would be worth remembering that The Lakes Distillery announced Sarah Burgess as its new whisky maker in early 2023. So, this might be a last chance to taste the magic that Dhavall Gandhi has created.
Each set contains:
- The Lakes Single Malt Whisky Elements 7 x 200ml – Each exploring a different Sherry-seasoned oak maturation. All have been aged in the same sized casks and the same warehouse conditions, before being bottled at 54% ABV.
