The Salford Rum Company’s third expression is sure to create quite the buzz.

The Salford Docks of yesteryear were a hive of activity and the workers there were known locally as the ‘worker bees’. This limited-edition Honey Rum is a tribute to them crafted by blending the brand’s spiced and golden liquid with local honey. The latter comes from a small family-run business in Manchester that evolved over the years into a beekeeper collective specialising in raw honey from rescue bees. Their robust and floral honey adds sweetness and intense flavours of honeycomb gooey caramel and butterscotch to the rum. Bottled in matte black bottles and finished in gleaming gold as well as honeycomb and beer motifs Salford Honey Rum is sweet nectar. We love it sipped neat poured over ice cream or used to make a rum-based version of a Bee’s Knees cocktail.

The Salford Rum Company’s spirits are inspired by the Caribbean liquor and spices that came ashore at the Salford Docks in the late 1800s and beyond. As a nod to the rich trading heritage and melting pot multiculturalism of what was the third largest port in the UK they’ve set up a column still just a stone’s throw from the historic quayside. Here they create small batch rums infused with ingredients like honey vanilla coconut cloves and burnt caramel. These are then bottled beneath a heavy wooden stopper in gorgeous matte bottles designed by Manchester artist Dave Draws featuring a hand-penned map of the city. With the Lowry Centre MediaCityUK and so much regeneration around The Quays and Chapel Street Manchester’s neighbour is pretty hot property right now. And slap bang in the middle of it all we’ve discovered a truly stunning rum producer.
