Tasting Notes
The history of this famous Champagne house dates back to 1772, when Philippe Clicquot founded an eponymous wine-making business. In 1810 this was renamed Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin, after the young widow Barbe Nicole Ponsardin who inherited the estate. Ever in pursuit of excellence and innovation, Madame Clicquot used her skills to develop an exceptional wine-growing territory and went on to establish what is today one of the most famous names in Champagne.
La Grande Dame 2004 Rosé is an exclusive blend of the maison’s traditional grand crus of Aÿ, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzy, Verzenay for the Pinot Noir and Avize, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger for the Chardonnay. This limited and sought-after release of the Maison is an intensely mineral wine. The nose is bursting with red berries, crushed strawberries and delicate white peach aromas. On the palate, the wine is substantial and full-bodied with a fine, crisp texture. More complex flavours of toast, proofing bread and almonds accompany a vibrant minerality. Enjoy it with langoustines, shellfish or fresh oysters.
