La Gravette de Certan 2010 - Vieux Chateau Certan

Vieux Chateau Certan

La Gravette de Certan 2010

Pomerol’s Vieux Château Certan is one of Bordeaux’s oldest and most highly respected estates. Affectionately known as VCC, it has been owned by the Thienpont family, who introduced the famous pink capsules, for almost a century. Located near to big guns Petrus, Lafleur and Le Pin, VCC’s wines are much sought after.

La Gravette de Certan is their second wine and proprietor Alexandre Thienpont believes that in 2010 it surpasses many of the vintages of the Grand Vin (Vieux Château Certan itself) produced during the 1970s in quality. The 2010 Grand Vin achieved perfect or near-perfect scores from the critics and is extremely hard to come by, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to try the second wine. Robert Parker considers it “amazing” and it certainly represents a cracking insight into a top estate in an outstanding vintage.

Big black cherry, raspberry and blackberry flavours mingle with a rich earthiness, this is an intellectual wine. Serve with deep conversation and food of equivalent depth.
