For those who like Burgundy but are in the mood to explore, do we have a treat for you in Vignaiolo Fanti’s Pritianum.
In 1991 Allesandro Fanti took over his father’s winery in the small town of Pressano, Trentino. Here in the Dolomites he organically farms the white varieties Chardonnay, Manzoni Bianco and a small amount of the native grape Nosiola. For Pritianum – the ancient name of Pressano – he ferments in both steel and wood to achieve a balance of richness and mountain freshness. The result is rich and rounded with an invigoratingly crisp finish. Expect golden apple, pineapple, Amalfi lemon, a pinch of ground coffee, cream, spices and the suggestion of marzipan. It’s a great wine to befuddle wine bores with and even better to serve with risotto, meaty fish, grilled squid, shrimp or creamy sauces.
