Santenay Les Hâtes Blanc 2013 - Vincent Morey

Santenay Les Hâtes Blanc 2013

It’s a thin line between love and hate. Actually, that thin line is just a circumflex…

We love the Santenay lieux-dit of Les Hâtes, especially when we can get our hands on a rare white wine from it. Ripe with a plush texture and deep orchard fruit flavours, this Chardonnay also displays notes of bitter almond, mango, flint and vanilla cream. It’s a delightful wine to sip on its own or accompany it with a slow-cooked and creamy dish.

After studying wine and working in St-Emilion for a while, Vincent Morey worked alongside his father Bernard for two decades. Meanwhile, his wife Sophie was working at her family’s estate Domaine Ménager-Belland in Santenay. When Bernard – quite a well-known character in the local area – retired, Vincent and Sophie decided to create their own domaine encompassing Grand Cru vines in Bâtard-Montrachet, old vines and Premier Crus in Chassagne-Montrachet and of course vineyards in Sophies beloved Santenay. Stylistically, their wines are quite a plump and traditional style that follows in the footsteps of Vincent’s father.
