Vintage Port 1985
£120.00
Tasting Notes
1985 rolled from a wet start to the year into a long, hot summer. The result was an outstanding vintage and one of the benchmark Ports from Warre’s for the decade.
After 35 years, the ripe raspberry, plum and black cherry fruit flavours have become silky and graceful. Warre’s tell-tale floral notes are still there, plus a pinch of peppery spice and some Tawny notes of dried fruit, leather and roasted nuts are beginning to develop. Partner this phenomenal Port with berry crumble, chocolate desserts and mature cheeses, or alternatively it makes a fine gift to mark any special 1985 anniversary.
Warre’s Vintage Port 1985 comes from the finest parcels within two principal Douro vineyards, Quinta da Cavadinha and Quinta do Retiro Antigo.
Warre’s – owned by the Symington family – ranks amongst Port’s most famous names, renowned for producing a restrained yet deeply concentrated style of vintage Port. Their coveted releases are typically slow to develop, possessing a unique mineral scented character that gives them wonderful complexity and style. The Symington family are trusted hands because they are the world’s leading producer of premium Port and the biggest vineyard owner in the Douro Valley – a UNESCO World Heritage Site of jaw-dropping beauty. The company is also B-Corp Certified, which means they are also on it when it comes to the environment, sustainability, their people, their supply chain and giving back to the community.
