Kylver Series - Release 2
Conceived in 2011, Wolfburn represents the re-launch of a historic highlands distillery which was opened in 1821 but closed in the mid-1800s. The first site, which was named after the nearby water source, in its heyday was the largest whisky distillery in Caithness, producing over 125,000 litres of spirit a year. Named after a burial stone that features one of the earliest examples of the runic alphabet, and to reflect the history of Caithness that surrounds the distillery, The Kylver Series represents a limited release single cask expression which plays on an experientialism.
This 2nd edition features the rune meaning aurochs (which was a type of large cattle that is now extinct) on its label, and the whisky itself was drawn from both bourbon barrels and an Oloroso Sherry butt. Extremely collectable, and remarkably scarce, this would be an inspired inclusion in any whisky collection.
