Blondie Pinot Noir 2018

Is it a white wine? Is it a rosé? Does it even matter when it tastes as good as this?

Technically Wooing Tree’s vegan-friendly Blondie is a Blanc de Noirs – a white wine made from red grapes, in this case some of Central Otago’s finest Pinot Noir. Handpicked and gently vinified, it comes out with the gentlest blush.

But this is no shrinking violet in the glass. Its beautiful Champagne colour leads on to sorbet-like flavours of peach, nectarine, pear, melon, strawberry and redcurrant, plus just a hint of toffee, jasmine, orange zest and spice. No wonder this is Reese Witherspoon’s favourite New Zealand wine. Serve chilled with seafood, salads and sunshine.

Wooing Tree from an iconic tree in the middle of this family-run farm in Central Otago. Beneath its branches, looking out over Lake Dunstan and the neighbouring Dunstan Mountains, countless people have popped the question, got married and who knows what else. It’s enough to make your Pinot Noir blush.
