91 points, “Bready red currant, blood orange and red cherry on the nose, with zingy tangerine zest, red apple and summer berries on the palate, backed by brioche and cream. More savoury and mineral notes towards the mid-palate, with a pinch of wheat biscuits and crushed nuts on the finish.” - Decanter

With its striking bottle and stunning coral coloured sparkling wine, the Rosé Extra Brut is a wine you want to take note of. Having won a silver award at the WineGB Awards 2023 and with rave reviews from critics, the second expression in the rosé line up from Busi Jacobsohn is summer in a glass. Predominately Chardonnay at 48%, closely followed by 46% Pinot Noir and 6% Pinot Meunier, this sparkling rosé is youthful, layered and complex with hints of oak alongside touches of crunch, tang and savoury notes. The dazzling combination of fruits and wild garden with redcurrant, pink grapefruit, cherry blossom, raspberry, wild strawberry and oyster mushrooms intermingle with rich bakery notes of shortbread and piecrust. Its rich and elegant structure marries heavenly with poached salmon, roast chicken, guinea fowl, nduja pizza, Spanish tortilla and flavourful pastas but can also be an eye-catching fizz to serve at celebrations and as an aperitif. The producers have ensured this wine is suitable for vegans which goes a long way to showing how progressive an operation this is.

Transcending the burgeoning English sparkling wine category, Busi Jacobsohn is the epitome of European elegance. The brand was created by an Italian and Swedish couple – Susanna Busi and Douglas Jacobsohn – at Blackdon Farm on the beautiful High Weald just south of Tunbridge Wells. Here they use the traditional method made world-famous by Champagne and vines from Burgundy clones to create wines that are a celebration of Europe. Their very first wine was awarded 94 points by the Decanter World Wine Awards putting this new venture firmly on the fine wine map but also on a trajectory to become a world-beater.

Founded in 2015, Busi Jacobsohn is very much a family-run wine estate. Douglas Jacobsohn stepped down as chief executive of an insurance company working in London to follow a dream that he and his wife Susanna had of making their own wine. After extensive training at Plumpton College, Douglas spends his days among the vines while Susanna takes care of the organisational side. Their sons, Charles and Tom, help with design, marketing and the vineyards; and their friends and family all pitch in at harvest time following the classic Italian tradition of Vendemmia. We’re proud to be one of the first stockists of Busi Jacobsohn and cannot recommend it highly enough.
