This is bottled poetry…
You’ll discover the Al-Cantàra winery nestled between the Nebrodi National Park and the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna. Al-Cantàra – which means ‘bridge’ in Arabic – is named after the stunning river that flows past the estate’s 15 hectares of vineyards through gorges and ravines then out to sea. The owner Pucci Giuffrida is a devotee of poetry and his romantic and expressive wines are inspired by the words of the great Sicilian poets.
A Nutturna is a highly unusual low-sulphur white wine. It’s made using organically and biodynamically farmed Nerello Mascalese – a grape that normally produces haunting reds with a finesse and vineyard variation that can rival the Pinot Noir of Burgundy. However here it has been vinified white in much the same way Pinot Noir might be used in Champagne. Pineapple wildflowers spice tarragon fennel seed mint and beach pebbles; this full-bodied fruity and fresh wine demonstrates what a force to be reckoned with this grape variety is. Super versatile for food matching we’d recommend serving with crunchy salads exotic curries herby dishes and friends. You’ll all be waxing lyrical in no time.
