95 points “The 2015 is a superb wine in the making.” – Antonio Galloni Vinous

94 points “From one of the most celebrated crus in the appellation the 2015 Barbaresco Asili is streamlined and light with an ephemeral and graceful personality.” – Monica Larner Wine Advocate

This feels like a very fashionable Barbaresco. Pretty silky and sophisticated; Ceretto’s Barbaresco Asili 2015 offers an elegant and thoroughly modern blend of crushed cherries strawberries and raspberries with a dash of mint hibiscus and blossom. Asili is one of the finest plots in Barbaresco and Ceretto own the very top of the hill which is the jewel in the crown. A wonderful wine for simple dishes but it almost seems a shame not to let it take centre stage and just enjoy it on its own.

Ceretto was established in the 1930s by brothers Bruno and Marcello; this dynamic duo managed to pin down some of the most valuable and historically significant plots in the Barolo in Piedmont. The company is now run by their children Lisa Roberta Alessandro and Federico. Despite being a traditional family business they are incredibly forward thinking. All of the vineyards are either organic or are being converted that way; they follow biodynamic farming methods; currently incorporating four wineries their empire is growing; their winemaker is actually an Aussie called Dave Fletcher who makes incredible Nebbiolo on both sides of the planet; and they also own a three-Michelin-starred restaurant called Piazza Duomo in Alba. They are famed for their elegant wines and modern Piedmont style and have developed a cult following as one of the region’s under-the-radar stars.
