91 points “This has a very plush and slightly spicy palate with earthy notes as well as a gravelly slightly leafy edge.” – James Suckling

90 points “One of the standout Cru Bourgeois… It’s a terrific floral seamless medium-bodied beauty that offers fine tannin a silky texture and integrated acidity. It shows the purity of the vintage and should drink nicely for a decade or more.” – Jeb Dunnuck

90 points “The 2015 Bernadotte shoots above my expectation… The palate is medium-bodied with dusky black fruit sprinkled with black pepper good length and nicely focused.” – Neal Martin Vinous

2015 was a phenomenal vintage in Bordeaux. Respected critic and Master of Wine Jeannie Cho Lee went as far as to “compare it to 2005 and 2009 in quality” Decanter Magazine noted that “several châteaux have arguably made the best ever wines” and Steven Spurrier announced that “Bordeaux is back.” One of the wines that surprised them all in this excellent year was Château Bernadotte – a “classy” wine with “a good future” according to Decanter. Spicy clean and elegant; it offers exceptional value for money in much-lauded vintage.

Formerly known as Château Fournas this Haut-Médoc estate in Saint Sauveur changed its name in honour of Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte – a French soldier who had a stormy relationship with Napoleon Bonaparte and became the King of Norway and Sweden. Curt Eklund the Swedish industrialist and owner of Château Bernadotte obviously felt quite strongly about this latter fact. Sleek Scandi sophistication meets classic Claret; sounds like perfection to us.
