92 points “Under the same ownership as Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande in Pauillac this estate has produced a concentrated wine. Dark and firm with the tannins up front the wine will take time to develop. Wait until 2025.” – Wine Enthusiast
Château de Pez vies with Calon-Ségur as one of the oldest winemaking estates in Saint-Estèphe. But don’t think that means you’re getting something fusty and old school. Once under the same ownership as First Growth Château Haut-Brion in the mid-1990s this illustrious Bordeaux estate passed into the hands of the Rouzaud family who also look after Champagne Louis Roederer Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande Domaines Ott Maison Delas Champagne Deutz and the famous Port house Ramos Pinto. So this wine rubs shoulders with the great and good of the fine wine world every day.
Dark and concentrated this was a wine impresses in what was a stellar Bordeaux vintage. It pops with blackcurrant black cherry liqueur blueberry dusty oak tobacco roasted nuts chocolate leather forest floor and violets. The juicy Château de Pez 2015 is a warming wine for dark and chilly evenings or a great partner to deep roasted dishes.
