91 points “The 2012 La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion shows many of the aromatic signatures of this site but the tannins remain quite imposing and in need of time to soften. Smoke graphite cured meats menthol and dark fruit are some of the scents that emerge from this virile yet wonderfully nuanced second wine from La Mission Haut-Brion.” – Antonio Galloni

90 points “The beautiful second wine the 2012 La Chapelle de La Mission Haut Brion has a dense ruby/purple colour sweet raspberry and blackcurrant fruit subtle earth and spice supple tannins and an opulent fleshy mouthfeel. It is a terrific second wine and outstanding in its own right. Drink it over the next 12-15 years. Drink 2015-2030.” – Robert Parker

While you wait for the Grand Vin from Château La Mission Haut-Brion in your cellar to enter its drinking window the second wine La Chapelle is a fine way to occupy your time. Alternatively it’s a stunning introduction to this iconic producer…

Château La Mission Haut-Brion is one Bordeaux’s greatest estates. At the time of writing this iconic Left Bank property has been awarded 100-point scores by Robert Parker more than any other wine in the Médoc equalling the number given to Pétrus. The Dillon family bought this incredible Pessac-Léognan property in 1983 48 years after purchasing its historic neighbour just across the road Château Haut-Brion. What makes La Mission Haut-Brion – a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot and Cabernet Franc – so special is its consistency. The rich powerful and oaky reds produced here are amongst Bordeaux’s best in every vintage.

La Chapelle de Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2012 is elegant and velvety with notes of tangy raspberry crème de cassis hedgerow berries forests after the rain wood smoke pencil lead mint grilled meat and peonies. As wine expert Jane Anson says “This is an excellent wine and one of the true pleasures of the vintage.”
