Les Tourelles de Longueville is one of the second wines from the Pauillac superstar Château Pichon Baron. Taking its name from the turrets that embellish the château it first appeared in 1986 and has been adored ever since. Judging by the reviews from the critics the 2016 version is no exception.
2016 was a fabulous year for claret with one of the world’s most eminent critics describing it as “A vintage for today’s Bordeaux wine lovers.” So that makes Les Tourelles de Longueville 2016 a particularly intriguing prospect. The grapes come primarily from the Sainte Anne plot planted mainly with Merlot. Autumn leaves hedgerow berries wildflowers and a distinctly forest feel this is as close to a walk in the countryside as a red wine gets. Charming and rounded Les Tourelles de Longueville is a fabulous Pauillac that’s not to be missed.
Château Pichon Baron is a Super Second that regularly competes with the First Growths not surprising considering that its neighbour is Château Latour. It offers outstanding value for such top draw Bordeaux.
