96 points “Dried herb nose and palate quite savoury and fleshy crunchy complex. Ticks a lot of boxes on concentration and finesse. Some fresh and older rose aromas and flavours. Some toasty wood ingress savoury dry lengthy new and very youthful.” – Cameron Douglas MS

95 points “Medium-bodied supple Pinot Noir with floral red rose violet dark cherry and a hint of cassis supported by a backbone of fine peppery tannins. Accessible now but with good cellaring potential.” – Bob Campbell MW

Dog Point Pinot Noir is like a laser in the night sky. All around is darkness – black cherry blackberry cherry cola cinnamon clove smoked meat and toasted nuts – and this Pinot Noir burst through the middle with power drama and crystal clarity. Pair with game wild mushrooms or for an unforgettable experience kale and chorizo tacos with a chipotle and strawberry salsa.

Marlborough’s Dog Point is owned by winemakers James Healy and Ivan Sutherland – both former Cloudy Bay employees – and their partners Wendy and Margaret. The two bonded while working at New Zealand’s most famous winery and decided to get a bit more ‘hands-on’ by branching out on their own. The team love Burgundy and are highly influenced by the great region they’ve also moved their entire operation under the Biogro programme making all their farming organic. Dog Point takes its name from the name given to the area by the shepherds of the first European settlements whose dogs wandered off or became lost in the tussocks and rolling hills. In a relatively short time it has become one of New Zealand’s finest and most sought-after wine producers.
