Les Millandes – located close to the village of Morey-Saint-Denis – is considered one of the highest quality Premier Cru plots in the area which is not surprising as it’s a direct descendant of the Grand Cru Clos-Saint-Denis and is literally just across the road from a swathe of world-famous Grands Crus.

2018 was a heatwave vintage in Burgundy resulting in fruity and juicy reds of excellent quality. So Anne and Hervé Sigaut’s Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru Les Millandes is smooth polished and pleasing like a conker. And it feels similarly autumnal too with dried leaves; sweet ripe and yet supremely elegant dark fruit; plum crumble; cherry wild strawberry and just a touch of balsamic. Think about pairing it with oxtail tournedos rich wine sauces brooding stews and roasts.

Anne and Hervé Sigaut have been quietly making exceptional wines since 1990. Those in Pinot Noir’s inner circle have known this for some time. But the cat is now well and truly out of the bag and demand is ramping up especially in vintages as rare as this one.
