DOMAINE BALLOT-MILLOT Meursault Les Narvaux 2019
Narvaux is one of Meursault’s finest lieux-dits. And in the hands of the team at Domain Ballot-Millot, the results are exceptional in every vintage.
The Chardonnay is picked early from old predominantly old vines. As a result, this has all the voluptuous stone fruit, buttery richness, toasted hazelnut and subtle smoke that you would expect from a Meursault, but there’s also a seam of laser-like acidity that runs through it, zapping out grapefruit pith and lime sorbet. We love to pair Ballot-Millot’s Meursault Les Narvaux with buttery dishes, creamy sauces and pan-fried fish doused with lemon juice.
Based in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, Charles Ballot runs the exemplary estate brought together by the union of his grandparents. Ballot-Millot owns an excellent array of vineyards from Chassagne-Montrachet to Pommard and employs a slow and gentle pressing, which draws out only the finest juice and allows a little oxidation that protects the wine as it matures in oak barrels. For us, the wines have always offered exceptional value for money, punching above their weight while remaining inexplicably under-the-radar.
