“The 2016 Chorey-les-Beaune Les Bons Ores is showing superbly from bottle and if a better example of this appellation was produced this year I would love to taste it.” – Wine Advocate

Uncovering under-the-radar Burgundy is one of life’s great pleasures. Jean-Pierre Guyon spends so much time in his organic vineyards that he has no time for self-promotion. As a result you just have to know about his wines. But these hugely impressive wines will not remain a secret for long especially since Wine Advocate noted that they “recommend the wines to readers in the strongest possible terms”. Be one of the first to get onboard with this super producer.

2016 was a vintage that was devastated by spring frosts but what remained of the reds is of the highest quality often surpassing the 2015s although in more elegant style that will appeal to purists and lovers of classic Burgundy. The vast majority of Jean-Pierre Guyon’s vines in Chorey-les-Beaune are over 100 years old. In 2016 they produced a dark and concentrated brew of wild strawberries hedgerow blackberries black cherry and cinnamon-spiced Mexican dark chocolate. Succulent and juicy but with refreshing acidity and the gentle lift of rose petals this is a charmer that feels almost Vosne-Romanée in style (although far from it in price).
