For over two centuries the name of Dow has been associated with some of the finest Vintage Port from the vineyards of the Upper Douro Valley. Dow’s Quinta do Bomfim 2010 is a single-vineyard blend from one of the Douro Valley’s finest vineyards located right at the centre of the ‘Cima Corgo’. The wines from this plot have been used in Dow’s Vintage Port since it was acquired in 1896. In good years when Dow’s doesn’t ‘declare’ a Vintage the best Ports of Quinta do Bomfim are bottled together such as was the case in 2010. Bomfim is a classic ‘River Quinta’ that displays wonderful balance. Expect rich black cherry and berry fruits on the palate accompanied by notes of prunes fruitcake black pepper worn leather dark chocolate cigar and seashell minerality. Power and finesse all in one. Consider pairing with chocolate desserts fruitcake and blue cheeses like creamy Stilton or Roquefort.
