93 points “It’s beautifully textured balanced and just a smoking good white from the Northern Rhône.” – Jeb Dunnuck

92 points “Ripe smoke-tinged orchard and pit fruit aromas are complicated by succulent herbs and honeysuckle flourishes. Creamy and seamless on the palate offering densely packed pear and white peach flavours that take on a bitter orange pith note. Shows impressive power and lively cut on the clinging finish which echoes the pear and floral notes.” – Antonio Galloni’s Vinous Media

Saint-Joseph Blanc is a wonderful but rarely seen thing of beauty. Made from almost entirely Marsanne with just a splash of Roussanne this example has been matured in a combination of stainless steel and oak. Displaying a gorgeous weight and complexity the white Saint-Joseph from Guigal has delicate touch of oak combined with smoked sea salt ripe pear floral honey peach blossom lemon and burnt orange peel notes. A round and powerful wine like this will make a wonderful accompaniment to rich buttery and creamy dishes. We so rarely see Saint-Joseph Blanc this is therefore an opportunity not to be passed up.

E. Guigal is a simply legendary winery which has passed from founder Etienne to his son Marcel and now on to his grandson Philippe. According to Robert Parker it’s “a qualitative locomotive that has brought attention to the Rhône Valley raising the quality bar for the entire region.” And Parker has backed this up by awarding it more perfect 100-point scores than any other producer on the planet. Although famed for their Northern Rhône reds the whites are not to be missed either.
