The ’Specialities’ range from Errázuriz offers unparalleled value for money. If you want world-class single-varietal wines with crystal clarity then look no further.

The Aconcagua Costa Pinot Noir benefits from the cooling influence of the Pacific Ocean and the schist and slate soils of the region. Together they combine to create a savoury and aromatic twist on this classic grape variety. At this point it’s worth noting that Errázuriz’s Las Pizarras Pinot Noir is widely considered by the critics to be one of the country’s finest Pinot Noirs and the Aconcagua Costa Pinot Noir comes from the same terroir but at a quarter of the price. This makes it a great way to test the water. Pull the cork to discover earthy aromas of game and truffle followed by raspberry black cherry redcurrants plum crumble dried flowers violets smoky campfires umami mushroom and forest floor. This is drinking beautifully now but will age gracefully so consider tucking a few bottles away.

Like the Syrah in the range this one has barbeque season written all over it for us but it would also be wonderful with wild mushrooms stews Sunday roasts truffle pasta game and seared duck breast. We’d also like to let it play with Sichuan cuisine.

Chilean wine is considered ‘New World’ by many. But when you learn that Don Maximiano Errázuriz Valdivieso founded Viña Errázuriz in 1870 it makes a bit of a nonsense of that outdated moniker. Today under the watchful eye of Eduardo Chadwick Claro Errázuriz is one of Chile’s most iconic and one of the world’s most famous wineries.
