This excellent Pinot Grigio is produced by Erste & Neue – a north Italian co-operative venture that was founded in 1900 when several wine growers came together with a mission to produce their own wine rather than sell the fruit to other producers. They now have 550 different growers from which to source the grapes from, meaning that they can adopt a selective approach and use only the best quality fruit available. This can be tasted in the quality of the wines produced, which command depth, focus and precision across the range. Erste & Neue’s Pinot Grigio is a great example, exhibiting a fresh, fine nose of pear, apple and white blossom, whilst the palate is well structured, dry and delicately flavoured. A characterful white wine that would pair especially well with shellfish and salad dishes.
