92 points, “This ‘Reserve Blend 28’ includes an average of 28 Pinot Noir reserve wines from the producer’s library built up since 2011, with at least 3 years of aging on lees. A savoury nose of freshly sliced bread, spiced apple pie and lemon. Thanks to 10.1 g/l of residual sugar, the palate is creamy and rounded, featuring brioche, green apple and white pepper spices, moreish with a solid acidic backbone.” – Decanter

Affectionately known as RB|28, this Blanc de Noirs is a celebration of English Pinot Noir. Even though it’s a multi-vintage blend, it’s matured on the lees for three years, which is as long as required by law for making Vintage Champagne. Skilfully elaborated using 28 wines from Exton Park’s extensive library of reserves, it’s charming and feels quintessentially English. One for the gourmets and gastronomes, RB|28 is precise and expressive, displaying notes of lime tree blossom, crusty bread, lemon curd and spiced apple crumble with cream. The acidity makes it extremely food friendly, so unleash your inner foodie and serve alongside anything from sushi to tarte Tatin.

After a decade of development and stringent testing, the team at Exton Park has come to the conclusion that the way to craft world-class sparkling wines in the temperamental climate of the UK is to create Reserve Blends – multi-vintage wines curated from reserve stocks. This approach guarantees consistent excellence year after year, whatever the weather may bring. Exton Park is a unique proposition, because they’re a single-vineyard producer. Their fruit comes from nine plots in one vineyard on chalky South Downs hills. The company is run by Robin McMillan, a gentleman who previously headed up Decanter, The Wine Society and Berry Bros & Rudd, so clearly knows his onions. The wines are made under the watchful eye of Corinne Seely, who has worked in Australia, Languedoc, the Douro Valley and at the prestigious Domaine de Chevalier in Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux. This experienced team was also one of the founding members of WineGB’s Sustainable Wines of Great Britain accreditation. This means that they take the most natural approach possible when growing their fruit, support biodiversity and reduce their carbon footprint using solar power.
