Selvapiana’s current owner Francesco Giuntini represents the fifth generation of the family to have run the estate. He also contributed the most to Selvapiana’s reputation by making a Riserva only from Sangiovese and by hiring a young Franco Bernabei as an advisor (a man now considered to be one of Italy's foremost consulting oenologists). The property now extends across the municipalities of Rufina Pontassieve and Pelago and counts a little over 250 hectares of which 58 are planted with vines 36 with olive gardens and 140 with woods. The whole estate is also organic certified.
This wine is a classic example of the elegance and delicacy of the Rufina appellation. Freshly crushed cherries raspberries herbs and sweet spices characterise the nose and the palate. Silky tannins and a lovely acidity give this wine a great balance and poise.
