Glenmorangie have released their fourth expression in the ‘Tale Of’ series with A Tale of Tokyo. Inspired by visits to Japan, director of distilling and whisky creation, Dr Bill Lumsden has blending a single malt that’s been partially aged in Japanese Mizunara oak casks with sherry and bourbon cask aged whisky resulting in a unique limited-edition spirit that perfectly balanced with Glenmorangie’s house style.
Breathe in herbal aromas with hints of toffee that interestingly contrast with incense, saddle soap, and cedar wood developing into a smooth mouth of zesty orange, bitter cherries, fennel, oak and pepper. It finishes in a long lingering style with gently nutty hits of toasted almonds alongside mandarin, white pepper and wood resin.
The unique whisky is presented in an eye-catching box that’s been made in collaboration with celebrated Japanese artist, Yamaguchi Akira, with the design showing a playful and intricate perspective of Tokyo’s contrasts and layers of history and culture. Look closely and you might even catch sight of Dr Bill!
