While snowed in at home Dr. Bill Lumsden (the Director of Whisky Creation at Glenmorangie) began to dream of a Single Malt that captured the magic of the festive season. Dressed in its winter wardrobe Glenmorangie’s A Tale of Winter is that flight of fancy come to life.
To achieve that cosy “winter in a glass” feel Glenmorangie finished a 13-year-old Scotch in the finest Marsala wine casks from Sicily. The result is a flurry of fruit honey cocoa gingerbread red pepper brazil nuts toffee and mulled wine spices. It’s as bright and vivid as your favourite Christmas jumper. Glenmorangie is a distillery that needs little or no introduction seeing as how it’s now a household name even if it’s sometimes mispronounced. Established in 1843 (although alcohol production may have started as early as 1703) the folk of Tain have passed their skills down from generation to generation. But amidst all that tradition they’ve never stopped innovating and only Prohibition and World War II have briefly stopped their remarkably tall whisky stills from running.
