Gusbourne has released its distinctive 2019 Brut Rosé expression with sophisticated characteristics of red fruit flavours combining magically with spice, minerality and balanced acidity. Unique to each growing season, this expression is one of endless summers but even through the depths of winter, it still has its place. Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir varieties are all pressed and naturally settled for up to 24 hours before going through the primary fermentation in stainless steel tanks. A small percentage of barrel-aged red wine is then blended before going through a secondary fermentation. The bottles are then aged on lees for a minimum 36 months adding extra texture and sophistication.
This pale pink blend delivers a delicate mousse with joyful notes of red fruit, stone fruit, citrus zest and fresh flowers. A light sip exposes strong red fruits with strawberries, redcurrants, rhubarb, red apple, nectarine and citrus tones alongside hints of pink peppercorn and a touch of minerality that all leads into a long lingering, zesty finish. This complex balanced blend can stand up to an array of dishes, so we recommend matching with rich buttery fish dishes like brown butter skate or luxurious fish pie, light meat or game such as smoked duck salad, and fruity desserts with standout notes like a rhubarb custard tart or red fruit trifle.
