Coola Hills Pinot Noir is a collaboration between winemaker Xavier Goodridge and the natural wine lovers at Les Caves de Pyrene. This low-intervention red comes from Mount Gambier which you’ll find in the southeast of South Australia. Once famous for its beef and dairy industry this scenic area is now becoming one of the country’s most exciting wine regions thanks to its volcanic soils and cooler climate. Because it’s fresh juicy and crunchy Coola Hills Pinot Noir loves to be served slightly chilled alongside pink duck Christmas leftovers summer barbeques and sauces made with cherry tomatoes.
Xavier Goodridge ran a wine bar in London and travelled to Beaujolais igniting in him a passion for all things vinous. On returning to his native Australia he decided he wanted to do more than just sell wine he wanted to make it too. After working with Pat Sullivan and a stint at Bress Estate in Harcourt he began to release his own artisan wines made from grapes he’d bought. But his more recent wines have started to incorporate grapes obtained from his own organic vineyards making them a real treat for fans of natural wines.
