Hoppy days. As the story goes, pale ales were heavily hopped in the late 18th Century to allow them to withstand the long boat journeys to India, where conditions were often too hot for brewing. Proving incredibly popular with the traders of the East India Company and the upper classes who had colonised India, the India Pale Ale was born. It has now become a global superstar. Although it originated in East London, the first use of the term IPA was actually made in the Sydney Gazette and New South Wales Advertiser in 1829, and now the most popular style of IPA is inspired by American brewing. In celebration of the world’s most popular style of craft beer, we’ve created a collection of our favourites. Some are hazy, a couple are tropical, a few are piney, most are smashable and one or two are a bit more punchy, but they’re all guaranteed to transport you to your hoppy place.
