‘Tis the season to be jolly which can mean only one thing: festive ready-mixed cocktails dressed in adorable Christmas jumper labels. So we’re proud to unveil the limited-edition Harvey Nichols Mulled Harvard Manhattan Cocktail.

Lovingly created using a delicious combination of Louis Royer Cognac (a house that has been making stunning Cognac on the banks of the Charente River for 150 years) mulled sweet vermouth aromatic bitters and mandarin liqueur. Mixed in small batches it’s super smooth brimming with traditional festive spices and rounded out by that suggestion of mandarin and it tastes as if a bartender had mixed it in front of your very eyes. Guaranteed to wow guests at any party it’s the must-have cocktail for the most wonderful time of the year.

It seems only fitting that we provide a little education on a cocktail named after an Ivy League university (interestingly only four of ‘The Ancient Eight’ have their own cocktails the others being Princeton Brown and Yale). The Harvard Cocktail is a twist on a Manhattan made with Cognac instead of whiskey. Back in the day it was alleged that a couple of these potent cocktails caused the upper-class alumni of the time to lose their ‘Harvard Accent’. Whether that’s true we wouldn’t like to speculate but what we do know is that this comfortingly old-school sipper was first published in print in George J. Kappeler’s 1895 ‘Modern American Drinks’. 126 years later it’s ripe for a yuletide makeover especially as we majored in mixology!

This bottle contains approximately seven servings. Serve ‘short’ in a rocks glass over ice cubes. Add a twist of satsuma or orange peel to garnish if you’re feeling fancy. Fuss-free festive cocktail perfection that guarantees a very merry Christmas indeed.
