Although it comes from the other side of the world the Giles Pinot Noir from Henschke seems to taste just like the British summertime. Raspberries cherries rhubarb roses sunshine on the herb patch lavender abuzz with bees strawberries and cream probably Wimbledon and the gentle thwack of leather on willow too. This Pinot Noir from the Lenswood vineyard in the Adelaide Hills matured in the finest French barrels for almost a year is pure joy and we love to serve it with pan-fried wild mushrooms or a cherry tomato salad.
The Henschke family have been making wine in Australia’s Eden Valley since 1868. From the biodynamically farmed Hill of Grace and Mount Edelstone vineyards Stephen and Prue Henschke create two of Australia’s most sought-after wines. The vines used to make their masterpiece Hill of Grace were planted in 1860 and the wine itself is one of the very best in the world.
