96 points “Such poise and elegance… An exceptional vintage for Mount Edelstone.” – James Suckling

96 points “Incredibly ripe fruit but combined with lovely freshness and balance.” – Decanter

96 points “From one of South Australia’s most historic vineyards… Drinking nicely now but should cellar beautifully for 20 years or more.” – Wine Enthusiast

“With over 60 contiguous vintages Mount Edelstone Shiraz is one of Australia’s greatest single-vineyard wines capturing the Eden Valley aesthetic and showing all the hallmarks of great Barossa terroir.” – Langton’s

The Langton’s Classification of Australian Wine bestowed an “exceptional” ranking upon Mount Edelstone placing it alongside the likes of Penfolds Grange. For those not familiar with Langton’s it’s an auction house that created a classification that has become the honour roll of Australia’s top fine wines. The wines are judged on the demand in the market over at least a decade rather than simply relying on one critic’s opinion on a single vintage tasting. So when they say this is one of Australia’s true greats they really know what they’re talking about.

Cyril Henschke first made Mount Edelstone in 1952 when the vines were 40 years old. Six decades later this single-vineyard wine is still one of Australia’s most spectacular. From biodynamically farmed centenarian vines this Shiraz is a superstar. Black olive cassis black cherry mocha black pepper roasted beetroot Christmas cake festive spices smoky bacon mint tea sage brambles and so much more are present in a wine that should be on any connoisseur’s bucket list.

The Henschke family have been making wine in Eden Valley since 1868. From the biodynamically farmed Hill of Grace and Mount Edelstone vineyards Stephen and Prue Henschke create two of Australia’s most sought-after wines.
