98 points “Kaleidoscopic this glorious vintage is terroir translucent transporting you to the vineyard with its signature aromas of dried sage Eucalyptus olida (aka Strawberry Gum) wild mint wattleseed nutmeg and tinder. Soaring and super-expressive these scents bring compelling dimension and meld exquisitely on the sweet juicy plum and bramble palate with its cocoa nib and earthy hints. Graceful willowy tannins and mineral acidity make for a long fluid markedly perfumed finish. Irresistible already!” – Decanter

19+ points “I am aware that I get rather over-excited about Mount Edelstone and so I paid particular attention to how this wine opened up over the course of four days and it simply unfurled an immense array of charm and intricacy that on first tasting was discreetly hidden behind panels of flavour. This is a thrillingly controlled wine with invigorating flavours and it will make three decades in a good cellar.” – Matthew Jukes

“With over 60 contiguous vintages Mount Edelstone Shiraz is one of Australia’s greatest single-vineyard wines capturing the Eden Valley aesthetic and showing all the hallmarks of great Barossa terroir.” – Langton’s

The Langton’s Classification of Australian Wine bestowed an “exceptional” ranking upon Mount Edelstone placing it alongside the likes of Penfolds Grange. For those not familiar with Langton’s it’s an auction house that created a classification that has become the honour roll of Australia’s top fine wines. The wines are judged on the demand in the market over at least a decade rather than simply relying on one critic’s opinion on a single vintage tasting. So when they say this is one of Australia’s true greats they really know what they’re talking about.

Cyril Henschke first made Mount Edelstone in 1952 when the vines were 40 years old. Six decades later this single-vineyard wine is still one of Australia’s most spectacular. From biodynamically farmed centenarian vines this Shiraz is a superstar. Dried herbs black olive cassis black cherry mocha black pepper roasted beetroot Christmas cake festive spices smoky bacon mint tea sage brambles and so much more are present in a wine that should be on any connoisseur’s bucket list.

The Henschke family have been making wine in Eden Valley since 1868. From the biodynamically farmed Hill of Grace and Mount Edelstone vineyards Stephen and Prue Henschke create two of Australia’s most sought-after wines.
