Boom! Here’s a whisky that’ll hit you like the hammer of Thor.

Highland Park was founded by Magnus Eunson an interesting wee chap who worked for the church and the butcher during the day but then let loose his mischievous Loki side at night distilling and smuggling whisky. Maybe this was because he was a descendant of the early Viking settlers on Orkney. We think he would have approved of the whisky his distillery has just unleashed the punchy new Cask Strength Release No.3. This giant of a Scotch is stronger than all the Norse Gods combined weighing in at an almighty 64.1% ABV and made with a higher proportion of Orkney peated malt.

Highland Park Cask Strength Release No.3 was matured in Sherry-seasoned American and European oak barrels each one handpicked by the Master Whisky Maker Gordon Motion. Bottled directly so you get that ‘straight from the cask’ experience this Scotch marauds across your taste buds flinging flavours of peat smoke heather honey vanilla pods ripe mango sweet toffee sponge cake brown sugar pink grapefruit zest charred lemon crème brûlée freshly grated nutmeg around star anise and smouldering peat smoke. This whisky is about to become the stuff of legends and myths. Maybe we'll meet its like again in Valhalla.

Based in Kirkwall this legendary Orcadian is Scotland’s most northerly distillery and one of only a handful to still employ traditional malting floor. Orkney’s windswept climate – one that has literally swept all the trees off the island – creates a truly unique place to age whisky.
