Crafted in sunny California by a Canadian with a passion for plants AMASS Dry Gin draws on the unique terroir and diverse cultural landscape surrounding downtown Los Angeles where it’s distilled. It was created using a neutral corn-based spirit (possibly a nod to California’s Mexican past?) and indigenous botanicals like California Bay and Cascara Sagrada that provide wonderful herbaceous flavours. It goes without saying that there’s also lots of arboreal juniper and bright citrus but things get really intriguing with the more unexpected umami notes from Reishi and Lion’s Mane mushrooms not to mention hibiscus cardamom cacao ashwagandha and ginger. And that’s just a smattering of the 29 botanicals used. For the others you’ll have to get a magnifying glass to that label.
Master Distiller Morgan McLachlan been fascinated by botany since her childhood exploring the coastal forests of the Canadian Pacific Northwest. Now she has found an outlet for all that passion. Her AMASS Dry Gin is brimming with bay leaf smoke savoury flavours imparted by the mushrooms and something almost Thai from that combination of pepper kaffir lime leaf and lemongrass-like citrus. You won’t want to lose the complexity of this gin so we recommend stirring it into a Martini pairing it with an Indian tonic water or mixing it into simple gin-led classic cocktails.
