Barolo Faletto 2012 - Bruno Giacosa

Bruno Giacosa

Barolo Faletto 2012

97 points, “Juicy and chewy with caressing tannins.” – James Suckling

Behind this understated label lies a Barolo brimming with wild strawberry, plums, cherries, blackberries, cedar, smoky roasted herbs and praline. Still so youthful and refreshing, The Barolo Falletto’s texture and structure suggest much ageing potential. And it would make a perfect partner to Christmas dinner, game, and earthy flavours like truffle and foraged mushrooms.

Famed for his ability to select the finest fruit, the bespectacled Bruno Giacosa was a sad loss to the fine wine world when he passed away in January 2018, making wines like this even more sought-after. Crafted using fruit from the estate’s vineyards, there is unfortunately precious little of this wine around on account of 2012 being the smallest harvest in 50 years. So don’t miss out, and maybe consider one for now and one for the cellar.
