Prestige Cuvee Rose NV
The story of Ca’ del Bosco started in the mid-1960s when Annamaria Clementi Zanella bought a house in Franciacorta surrounded by chestnut woods. But it was only a decade later that Annamaria’s son, Maurizio set up to turn that little house into a vanguard vinery. He recognised the potential of Franciacorta’s terroir and was at the forefront of the Italian wine renaissance.
Ca’ del Bosco takes particular care in treating their grapes to assure the best expression of their wines. They even went as far as creating a “berry spa”. After hand-harvesting, chilling, and manual selection the grapes undergo a series of washings. A series of three soaking vats transports the floating bunches by bubbling air, with a final drying section so that the must is not diluted. This method has been applied since the 2008 vintage and allows for the wine to shine brighter, with no reduced aromas or unexpressed nuances.
The Cuvee Prestige Rose is the other winery’s flagship expression. The wine is a blend of 80% Pinot Nero and 20% Chardonnay and spent around 30 months maturing on-lees. The great care in which this wine has been created allows it to really show the purity and refinement that are synonymous of Franciacorta. The wine has a fresh, vibrant nose reminiscent of red fruit, crushed strawberries, melon, vanilla and toast. The palate is soft, with lovely textured bubbles and marked aromas of raspberries and brioche. This really impressive rose is a perfect match with noble seafood, salmon or duck dishes.
