Created by the entrepreneur Bertha González Nieves Casa Dragones is named after the cavalry of San Miguel de Allende who sparked the Mexican independence movement more than 200 years ago. Embodying their spirit this is a brave modern and fiercely independent Tequila. Each numbered bottle is signed by hand testament to Casa Dragones’ meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Casa Dragones Añejo Barrel Blend Tequila is matured in two different kinds of wooden cask new French oak and new American oak and that’s what imparts its distinctive character and deep complexity. At the end of the ageing process the two components are blended together in small batches to create an unfathomably smooth Tequila with an agave-forward flavour profile.
Glowing like amber and caramel this spirit opens with fresh flowers juicy pear roasted fig and toasted almonds on the nose. The first sip reveals agave macadamia vanilla nutmeg dried apricot blackberry granola and cream. Meanwhile the finish which lingers for what seems like an eternity delivers bittersweet dark chocolate and cracked black peppercorns. Put that cocktail shaker away because this is sipping Tequila. Enjoy it neat after dinner with a single cube of ice.
