Grand Vin Saint-Estèphe 1995 - Chateau Cos d'Estournel

Chateau Cos d'Estournel

Grand Vin Saint-Estèphe 1995

Famed for its exotic architecture adorned with pagodas and Indian influences, Château Cos d’Estournel is – despite only being ranked as a Deuxième Cru Classé in the Bordeaux Classification of 1855 – “a wine of First Growth quality” according to esteemed wine critic Robert Parker.

And in 1995 Cos d’Estournel did not disappoint the critics. This is a bold and hedonistic wine with lots in reserve if you can resist drinking it immediately. Now very hard to find, Robert Parker called it “a wine of extraordinary intensity and accessibility”. Expect a souk full of spices from this Cabernet Sauvignon dominated beauty, plus intense cassis, grilled brioche with blackcurrant jam, tobacco, pomegranate and black olive. Gently decant an hour before you want to drink and treat yourself to gamey flavours, slow roasted meats or mushrooms as an accompaniment.
