Tasting Notes
“Deep crimson. Peppery cassis nose with an inviting cedary freshness. Lively and dry textured. Balanced, subtle and persistent.” – Jancis Robinson’s Purple Pages
2016 was a fabulous year for Bordeaux. As the experts at Wine Searcher put it, “The 2016 vintage of Bordeaux is widely considered to be excellent, even legendary.” The wines offer such pleasure that we recommend snapping up all that you can find. So, don’t miss out on this Château Noaillac from Médoc.
Always a wine that offers good value, Château Noaillac 2016 is velvety in texture with a complex mix of blackberries, raspberries, cassis, wild strawberries, campfires, wildflowers, graphite, Christmas spices, cocoa, toast and a pinch of sea salt. For the money, this is seriously hard to beat.
Purchased in 1982 by the Pagès family (also owners of the Château La Tour de By), there’s been big investment in this Cru Bourgeois, and now Château Noaillac is on the rise. Located right in the north of Médoc, practically on the coast as the Gironde estuary opens into the Bay of Biscay. This cool area means that Noaillac can produce complex wines without the grapes overcooking.
