Based in Newton Stewart these Gallovidians make small batches of their own wheat grain base spirit in a 250-litre pot still. They then use bladderwrack seaweed to provide a seashore scent and a salty twang noble fir pine needles to add a clean herby note and a rich mouthfeel and nine other botanicals to deliver a peppery and surprisingly fruity balance.
A good hit of juniper is backed up by pine resin woody herbs tropical fruit lemon sherbet peppery spices and the enlivening whip of sea spray. Try with tonic and a slice of fresh mango to elevate those fruity elements; then simply let the waves of flavour wash over you and the wind of change whistle in your ears.
Crafty Distillery has revamped its packaging creating this rather nifty bottle. 30% lighter by design it uses less energy in production shipping and recycling. The short neck and wide mouth open up a world of up-cycling opportunities and the natural wood and cork stopper doubles up as a measurer (just fill it twice for the perfect 25ml).
