  • 98+ points, “The 2008 Dom Pérignon is fabulous.” – Antonio Galloni
  • 18.5 points, “Masses of energy here, as well as the usual flirtatiousness.” – Jancis Robinson

The highly anticipated release of this epic Champagne was only heightened by it being held back after Dom Pérignon 2009. According to Champagne expert Richard Juhlin, 2008 was a five-star vintage and “the weather gods were in their best mood this year”. Laser-like in its brightness and focus, crystal clear and with the sleek energy of a race horse; on top of which there’s lemon zest, salty oyster shells, blossom, garden mint and a delightful chalky minerality. This has many great years ahead of it, so don’t worry too much about what to serve it with and just concentrate on securing a bottle or two.

Named after the 17th century Benedictine monk credited as the person who “invented” Champagne, Dom Pérignon is one of the world’s most coveted maison in Champagne. Representing a blend composed of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, only the very best grapes are used to create Dom Pérignon with the production process employed both lengthy and meticulous in its attention to detail.
