Tavel La Forcadière Rosé 2018 - Domaine Maby

Tavel La Forcadière Rosé 2018

Tavel – just across the Rhône from Châteauneuf-du-Pape and not far from Avignon – produces a classic rosé, famously imbibed by Ernest Hemingway and one of the only rosés that improves with age. In fact, it’s so good that this is France’s only appellation that exclusively makes pink wine. Bone dry, full-bodied and vivid terracotta in colour; these are serious wines and those crafted by Domaine Maby are “consistently among the best of the appellation” according to Wine Advocate.

Rich and spicy, the flagship wine from Domaine Maby is begging for you to get the tagine down and the harissa out. Alternatively test La Forcadière Tavel Rosé out as a match to your Sunday roast. Tavel is often one of the world’s most challenging rosé wines, but this blend of Grenache Noir, Syrah, Cinsault, Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc, Carignan and Clairette has no edges whatsoever.

Former stock trader Richard Maby returned to take over the family estate, which has developed from a few vines owned by local shoemakers into one of Tavel’s most respected producers.
