Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru Les Feusselottes 2012
“The 2012 Chambolle-Musigny Les Feusselottes is gorgeous in this vintage… This is a fabulous showing.” – Antonio Galloni, Vinous
Domaine Cécile Tremblay’s Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru Les Feusselottes 2012 grips you like a good play. There’s tension, drama, energy and character, and intriguing notes of hedgerow blackberries, wildflowers, sweet spices, raspberries, wild strawberries, cassis, grilled meat, roasted coffee beans, sea spray and hedonism. It really is quite the show.
Cécile Tremblay is the grandniece of the legendary Henri Jayer, and many in the trade think she will be the next Lalou-Bize Leroy. When she inherited the family’s vineyards they weren’t in the greatest condition, but they were in exceptional locations. She has licked them into shape and they are now certified organic, farmed using biodynamic practices, and produce spectacular wines. Once the secret of Burgundy insiders, Domaine Tremblay’s reputation is skyrocketing. Unfortunately, this means that demand is following suit, and as the outturn is minuscule, tracking down bottles is becoming increasingly challenging. Wine Advocate praises her “highly sought-after wines” for their “great fruit concentration” and “purity and balance”. Burgundy expert Steen Öhman of Winehog said recently: “I find more and more detail and pleasure from the wines of Cécile Tremblay – they do offer a forward drinkability – yet they are somehow real and substantial wines – with intensity and quite some structure.” Although it may sound strange, this combination of fine wine structure, unique character and immense drinkability is wonderful and surprisingly rare.
