25 Year Old 1993 Master Vintage Single Malt Scotch Whisky

In 1993, Glendronach laid down a spectacular set of Sherry casks; the distillery considers this one of their finest ever vintages.
For this limited-edition whisky, Master Blender Rachel Barrie has selected the finest Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso barrels and has expertly married together these exquisite 25-year-old malts. The result is the Glendronach 1993 Master Vintage; packed with treacle, Christmas cake, red miso, Assam tea, prunes soaked in Armagnac, hung beef, chocolate-covered orange peel, Chinese five spice, peppered jerky and the heavenly combination of roasted red peppers, toasted almonds and olive oil that brings to mind romesco sauce. This is our go-to if your dinner has left you wanting a bit more of an umami or Maillard reaction hit, but it’s also brilliant with haggis or tapas. It also makes a great birthday present for anyone born in 1993.
Glendronach’s history has been a tumultuous one. Burned to the ground a decade after it was founded, bounced from hand to hand like a hot potato, mothballed and resurrected, it keeps coming back like the Terminator. However, since being taken under the wing of The Benriach Distillery Company and more recently Brown-Forman, things have settled down in the valley of Forgue, Aberdeenshire. Whisky maker Rachel Barrie has produced a procession of exceptional, richly sherried single malts, with each release displaying even more character than the last.
