Etna Rosato 2020

92 points, “The 2020 Etna Rosato impresses with its vibrant bouquet of sweet melon lifted by minty herbs and white smoke. It’s silky in texture yet reverberating with zesty citrus and mouthwatering acidity, as mineral-tinged green apple and spices cascade across the senses. The 2020 tapers off tense yet long, presenting a salty flourish under an air of crushed oyster shells. This Nerello Mascalese Rosato gets an official “Wow” in my book.” – Antonio Galloni’s Vinous

Alberto Graci is an ex-banker from Milan who has been making wine at his family’s winery in Sicily for almost 20 years. Located on north slope of Mount Etna at Passopisciaro, Graci is a traditional producer focussing on indigenous grape varieties, organic farming methods, old bush vines, precision and finesse. Although there is much excitement in fine wine circles about his venture with Angelo Gaja, called IDDA, his classic range is also spectacular.

This Etna Rosato is made from Nerello Mascalese; both the region and the grape are very much en vogue at present. Pale salmon pink with notes of wild strawberry sorbet, pink grapefruit and sea breezes on the nose, Graci’s rosé displays the most wonderful flavours of nectarine, rhubarb, red apple, watermelon, almond, honeysuckle, flint and salty beach pebbles. Bright and infectiously lively, this is an extremely summery wine that should be enjoyed with sunshine, nibbles, salads, fish dishes, risotto and fresh tomatoes. Grazie Graci!
